[3] This applies only to birth Jews genealogically, not to those called Jews because of a religious conversion.
[4] op. cit. Holman, The first son born to a couple is required to be specially dedicated to the SOVEREIGN and thus is considered the Royal Son. The birthright of a firstborn included a double portion of the estate and leadership of the family. As head of the house after his father's death, the eldest son customarily cared for his mother until her death and provided for his sisters until their marriage. The firstborn might sell his rights as Esau did (Genesis 25:29-34). The firstborn of Jacob was Ruben, but he forfeited them for misconduct because of incest (Genesis 35:22; 49:3,4). In this case, Jacob then appointed Ephraim as firstborn and thus the Tribe of Ephraim became the Royal Tribe of Israel.

[6] The Orthodox Jews have maintained the daily sequence for the true Sabbath, yet you can look at Jerusalem today and see that the Jews as a whole do not keep the Sabbath nationally.
