This study about “marriage” is from a Scriptural standpoint and only from a Scriptural standpoint. Any references quoted will be taken from the Hebrew Scriptures (Tanakh, Old Testament). ¹   These Scriptures will be our only guideline to determine what constitutes “being married or the marital condition.”

Here, we have to look closely at Scripture. It is unlikely that we comprehend what the True Scriptures ²   are telling us because of our background in our particular religions. At the same time there are other influences which may keep us from searching out the matter of what our CREATOR established as “what constitutes being married.” To list just a few of possible influences: 1) our family values, 2) our governmental laws, and 3) the mores of the society in which we live.

All we have to do is look at the various attitudes of people concerning marriage to truly be confused as to what marriage really is. You can look at your friends, neighbors, families, and co-workers and you will see those who have been married in a church by a preacher, some have gone to a Justice of the Peace, some are living together without a marriage license, some are divorced while others are divorced and remarried. The list goes on and on.

Fifty years ago relationships looked much different than they do today. Today, we live in a “free society” where just about anything regarding relationships is seen. What people see is what they become accustomed to. However, what we must do is to see what Scripture tells us concerning the joining of a man and a woman.

The purpose of this study is to look at how and why the CREATOR instituted a union between a man and a woman. In addition, we will see what marriage really is. We will use different examples and walk through the meaning of various words to bring about a clearer picture as to what constitutes being “married.” Ultimately, we are questing to find and obey our SOVEREIGN’s will on this important subject.

Do I believe that this study is needed? Yes, definitely. Do I think that this study will be widely accepted and applauded? No, I do not think it will be. So, why am I presenting this material? This study is for those who are serious about knowing our CREATOR’s states with their whole hearts.

I want you to know that this article is not meant to put women down in any way or to exalt men over women. Again, this article is to seek out our CREATOR’s Word to find His Design for a union between a man and a woman. In any event, I am sure you will find this to be an interesting study and I hope you will be receptive to its message.

Should We Change Our Circumstances

Can or should everyone change their circumstances if in the past they realize they did not live up to our CREATOR’s will? If we are knowingly committing any sins, it is mandatory to stop committing them and repent. This includes a plethora of sexual sins that are so casually broken today. However, if a “marriage” is based on government rules and regulations that is not necessarily a personal sin because in the course of the marriage the Scriptural admonition will have been met.

This article is not intended to be a condemning teaching. We sincerely hope that you will do a Scriptural study yourself to see what Scripture states about this topic. Do not be afraid of the truth. When we make up our minds to find the truth and to live by the truth our lives are transformed.

If I were a male I would probably be labeled a “male chauvinist” for my stand in regards to marriage as presented in this article. Happily, for that reason I am not a male. I am a female who just so happens to be Questing for truth.

How ETERNAL Established The Marriage Union

Before Adam ³   could have a mate the CREATOR had to make him one. When the CREATOR made man He did not make woman at the same time. The beast of the field and the birds of the air were made before the woman. The Man had work to do even before the Woman arrived on the scene. Adam was given the job of tending the garden that the CREATOR planted for him. He also was given the task of naming the animals.
Genesis 2:18-19 ⁴   (KJV). And ETERNAL SOVEREIGN ⁵   said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help (#H5828) meet (#H5048) for him.” Out of the ground the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

The Living Bible states verse 18 slightly different:
Genesis 2:18. And ETERNAL SOVEREIGN said, “It isn’t good for man to be alone; I will make a companion for him, a helper suited to his needs.”

The English word “help” comes from the Hebrew word “`ezer” ⁶   which comes from a primary root that means “to surround, i.e. protect, and aid.” The English word “meet” comes from the Hebrew word “neged” ⁷   and means “a front, (i.e. part opposite) specifically a counterpart, or mate.”

The result of the ETERNAL CREATOR having Adam name the animals was that Adam became aware that there was no helpmeet comparable to him.
Genesis 2:20 (KJV). And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Then our CREATOR made a helpmeet for Adam. He formed the Woman out of a rib that He took from Adam and then brought the Woman to Adam. Since Adam knew that the Woman was especially made for him as a “helpmeet,” I believe that would have instilled a deep appreciation for her.

Genesis 2:21-23. And ETERNAL SOVEREIGN caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib, which ETERNAL SOVEREIGN had taken from man, He made into a woman and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.”

Why the CREATOR Established This Union

Have you ever wondered why the CREATOR made the woman after he made the man? I believe there are a number of reasons but the one stated in Scripture is very simple --to be “a helpmeet” for man.
Genesis 2:24-25. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined ⁸   to his wife, ⁹   and they shall become one-flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

In verse 24 is the first time the word “wife” is used. It says that the man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one-flesh. Notice that it says his wife. The CREATOR brought the woman that He had made to Adam.

Do you realize that the woman was given as a “gift” to the man from the CREATOR Himself? She was especially made for him by the CREATOR. She was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh. She was actually taken out of man then she was given to man and they were joined together to become one flesh. The woman was a counterpart of the man which means that she was a compliment to him. Woman (Eve) was the perfect match for man (Adam).

Woman is the pinnacle of the physical creation. She was the last thing that the CREATOR made. She is the “crowning touch” of man. In all of creation nothing satisfies man like woman.

Man was taken out of the dust, but woman was taken out of man. Woman was a very special creation because she was made to complete man--woman was made a helper comparable to man. Our CREATOR said that it was not good for man to be alone, “I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Woman is comparable to man but has a different function than man. Comparable means: equivalent, equal, like, analogous, as good as, similar, and akin.

When the woman was brought to Adam by the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN after she was created, Adam called her “Woman” (Genesis 2:23). Later, after the “sin and the curse,” Adam named his wife Eve ¹⁰   (Genesis 3:20).

The Head of the Family

Man was made first and was given the role of head or leader of the family. From Scripture we see that man has the ultimate responsibility for the woman. That is another whole study, but suffice it to say that the husband is to provide for his wife, protect her, love her, and in general take care of her needs. He is to make sure that the wife has her food, her clothing, and not ‘diminish her marriage rights’ ¹¹   (Exodus 21:10). After the CREATOR made male and female in His own image He blessed them.
Genesis 1:27-28. So the SOVEREIGN created man in His own image; in the image of the SOVEREIGN He created him; male and female He created them. Then the SOVEREIGN blessed them, and the SOVEREIGN said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

This is another reason why the CREATOR made woman. Man needed someone who was comparable with him and yet a counterpart so they could reproduce after their kind. Notice in the above passage that the blessing was given to both the man and the woman. Man and Woman were to be fruitful and multiply. Together they were to fill the earth, subdue it, and to have dominion over the fish of the sea, etc. Just as the CREATOR has order in the universe, He has set an order for families as well. This is shown throughout Scripture.

When are a Man and a Woman “Married”?

We will explain later what the word “marry or married” means. I guess the basic question is: How is a man and a woman “joined” into this “one-flesh” relationship? Simply stated, the couple is man (husband) and woman (wife) when they have sexual relations. Think about it. When the CREATOR made woman and brought her to the man, he blessed them and said “Be fruitful and multiply…” That was their blessing--a command, “be fruitful and multiply….”

Since the CREATOR initiated this “becoming one flesh,” if it were His will to have a ceremony this would have been the perfect time to conduct it because they were just given a command to have intercourse and make babies. But, this ceremony thing did not happen. Nor does our CREATOR command a ceremony or a wedding, as we know it, anywhere in Scripture. Later, we will discover why this is not the SOVEREIGN’s plan for His people. You can be assured that if the CREATOR did not mention something, ¹²   it is not His will.

Scripture refers only to a man and a woman being “one- flesh.” I want to add here that Scripture does not refer to any other union as being “one-flesh.” The union of a man and woman is very special in our CREATOR’s eyes.

Can you imagine the CREATOR making a counterpart that was contrary to the man? Or of the same gender? It is my opinion that since the CREATOR took the woman from the man that she was perfect for him. She must have complimented him in every way. If that is true, then the reverse must also be true. The man must have been perfect for the woman as well.

When the CREATOR created woman, He made a very special feature to her called “the hymen.” “The hymen is a thin skin extending partly across the opening into the vagina.” ¹³   The hymen is broken when a woman has intercourse for the first time and is her proof of virginity. This is very important because their union to each other combined with the breaking of the hymen by her mate constitutes a Covenant ¹⁴ between them made before the SOVEREIGN.

I guess the obvious question here is: If we have “casual intercourse” does that mean that we are “one-flesh” or in the terms that we are familiar with “married to him/her?” The simple answer to that is yes. We can look in Scripture and see where this joining together of a man and a woman in the act of intercourse establishes a new status for them both--of being one-flesh (or “married”).
Genesis 2:24. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

The CREATOR instructed the man that he was to leave his father and mother THEN the man and wife were to be united by intercourse and become one flesh. The act of becoming one flesh creates a bond between the two and it is sealed by their Covenant and then blessed by the CREATOR.

You see in our CREATOR’s eyes there is no such thing as “casual intercourse.” Either we obey His Commandments or we do not; however, if we do not obey His Commandments, then we will pay the consequences. One of the Ten Commandments is: “do not commit adultery.” The Scripture does not forbid intercourse. The Scripture does say that intercourse makes a “one-flesh” union, “and the two shall become one-flesh.”

The Scriptural standard for the union is a relationship in which a man and a woman share a lifetime commitment to each other second only to their commitment to the SOVEREIGN. It is an unconditional lifetime commitment as shown in the principle of marriage inherent in the SOVEREIGN’s Creation (Genesis 2:24).

I might point out here that Scripture does not tell men that they cannot have more than one wife. Yet, Scripture does tell women that they cannot have more than one man. If a man has intercourse with a woman, he is responsible for her because he is “joined” to her as one-flesh. On the other hand if the woman has intercourse with a man, she is his woman and if she has intercourse with another man while married to her husband she commits adultery.

It does not state in Scripture that if a man has sexual relations with more than one woman that he has committed adultery. What Scripture does say is that if a divorced woman has sexual relations with a another man she cannot go back to first husband even if the second one dies. Read that in Scripture.
Deuteronomy 24:1-4. When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s wife, if the latter husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his wife, then her former husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before ETERNAL and you shall not bring sin on the land which ETERNAL your SOVEREIGN is giving you as an inheritance.

Examples of Men and Their Wives in Scripture

Our first example is of the first man and woman. We see in Genesis 2:22 where the CREATOR brought the woman to Adam and blessed them.   Our next example is where we see that Abram and his brother Nahor each took ¹⁵   a wife.
Genesis 11:29. Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

We find in Scripture where sometimes the wife gives a handmaid to her husband for bearing children and being a surrogate mother for the barren wife. The children are considered the wife’s children and not the handmaids. These children are heirs along with any children of the wife.
Genesis 16:1-4. Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, ETERNAL has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived.”

We can see by these few examples the Scriptural method of “taking” a wife. You can also research how Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joseph, King David as well as other patriarchs “took” their wives. I might add that never is it seen in Scripture that when a man takes a wife that it is without the woman’s consent. Daughters were also “given” by their fathers to their prospective mates. In any case, the man is to leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife (woman).
Genesis 2:24. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.

Are the Scriptures Pertinent today?

Well, I certainly hope so. Our righteousness is going to be judged according to the Scriptural standard. To be righteous is to keep ETERNAL’s Commandments. ¹⁶   Yes, the Scriptures are valid for today. We prideful human beings tend to think that the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN CREATOR of all that there is does not mean what He says. In our haughtiness, we think that we have the option to determine what is right and what is wrong for ourselves. Wrong!   Our only option is to decide if we will obey or not obey ETERNAL’s Commandments.

I have news for you. This life is but a test to see if we will obey or not (Deuteronomy 13:1-4).   ETERNAL does mean what He says and He commands us to follow those things that are important to Him--not what is important to us--but what is important to Him! He gives us His Commandments because He loves us and because the Commandments are for our well being. ETERNAL is the most loving Father there could ever be. Have you ever read Psalm 119? When I read this Psalm I can literally feel the love that King David had for our CREATOR and the love he had for ETERNAL’s Commandments. In Psalm 119 the Commandments are also referred to as: “Your Torah, Your Truth, Your Word, Your Laws, Your Witnesses, Your Righteous Right-Rulings, Your Orders, Your Ways, my Counselors, and Your Kindness.”

To answer the question “are the Scriptures pertinent today”? That is similar to asking “is a bluebird blue?” In both cases the answer is, “But of course they are.” The Laws of Scripture are eternal laws and were given by the Almighty SOVEREIGN whose Name means “ETERNAL.”

What is “Marriage”?

To answer that question we have to look at the true meaning of words relating to “marriage” to find out what being “married” means. We will look at the meaning of “marriage” from our society’s point of view and especially from a legal definition because our society gets its views of “marriage” from a legal perspective. It might seem that we are getting really technical and making something out of nothing so that is why we are adding the following definitions. Please closely examine the definitions listed here because they will clearly show how Satan works so skillfully to deceive us in regards to marriage.

Generally, the term “marriage” “means: the legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife; wedlock; a wedding...” ¹⁷

Legally the word “Marriage” means:  A contract, made in due form of law, by which a man and woman reciprocally engage to live with each other during their joint lives, and to discharge towards each other the duties imposed by law on the relation of husband and wife... ¹⁸

Did you know that the law of marriage is from man and not from the CREATOR? Our government has taken over the headship of marriage between the man and wife and redefined its meaning to make it a “legal contract” instead of a “Covenant with our Father.”

To expand on the legal meaning of “Marriage” let’s look at another law dictionary.   "Marriage, as distinguished from the agreement to marry and from the act of becoming married, is the civil status, condition, or relation of one man and one woman united in law for life, for the discharge to each other and the community of the duties legally incumbent on those whose association is founded on the distinction of sex..."¹⁹

I also want to point out here what the legal term “matrimonium” means: “In Civil Law. A legal marriage. A marriage celebrated in conformity with the rules of the civil law is called justum matrimonium...”²⁰

• The meaning of ‘wedlock’: “the state of being married; matrimony; in the vernacular “out of wedlock,” of parents not legally married to each other²¹.
• To “wed” means: “to marry; to contract matrimony.”²²
• “Wedding” means: “Marrying; uniting with in matrimony.”²³
• The CREATOR is the rightful head of the union of the man and woman and He wants to be the Head of their union.

Genesis 19:14. Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married (H3947) his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for ETERNAL will destroy this city!...”
The English word “married’ comes from the Hebrew word “laqach” ²⁴   and is a primary root that means “to take.”

In summary to this point, ETERNAL gave the “one-flesh union” to a man and woman with that concept being based on His Scriptures. In today’s society the legal term used for the “one-flesh union” is “marriage.” In plain vernacular speaking the “one-flesh union” or “sexual intercourse” is the action that binds a man and woman together and no ceremony is necessary. Even a “legal” ceremony is not binding until it is “consummated.²⁵”

Are you getting the picture of how we have been deceived? I hope so. It has taken me years to find out these things. For some this information may be shocking. However, many are sincerely looking for answers. We cannot stress enough--if you want answers you will have to do the work and look up these things and prove them to yourself. We do not want you to take our word for anything. Each person will have to give an answer to the SOVEREIGN for how they live their lives. Remember, we are only here to help by giving you a start to do your own quest or research. You must form your own beliefs and life habits for which you are responsible before the SOVEREIGN of the Cosmos.

We Have Been Deceived

Now, let’s put this all together and see what this is saying. Going back over Genesis 19:14 this is the first time we see the Hebrew word “laqach” translated in the Scriptures as “marriage.” Previously it had been translated as ‘took’ or ‘taken’ starting in Genesis 2:15.

The story flow in Genesis 19:14 is that Lot is trying to get his sons-in-law to leave the city with him before it is destroyed. Since “laqach” is first translated here as ‘marriage’ and had not previously been translated ‘marriage,’ we have to look closely to find out why this word was used in this particular situation. The Hebrew word there is “laqach” (#H3947 see above) and the primary root word means “to take” which has a wide variety of applications. “To take” or “took” is how the word was translated in verses before Genesis 19:14. “Marriage” ²⁶   is a Latin derived word which is not in the Hebrew language. So, “laqach” here could mean, “who had taken” or “who had seized” his daughters. Remember, Lot was living in a wicked adulterous environment where anything went.

Please note that when any Bible Concordance uses Latin words or any other word origins other than Hebrew to translate the Hebrew Scriptures something is not right, so look and figure out what is being hidden from the reader and quest for the truth.

“Marriage” in the true meaning of the word is not the way of becoming one-flesh as defined by Scripture. So that if you are “married” before a government official or registered in a government document then you are living together technically in a contract with that state. I know this sounds strange so follow along in this study very closely.

A person who is authorized by the state to conduct a “marriage” would be a Judge, a Justice of the Peace, a preacher, or anyone who is registered by the government to perform a marriage which makes it a governmental procedure. The reason that you have to have a license to get “married” is because the government makes “marriage” illegal unless you have their permission, therefore, you are required to get a “marriage license” to have a “legal marriage.” When you are married “legally” you and your partner are in essence marrying the state because you are in a three-way contract with the state in which the state is the head. Therefore, you are in a “state designed relationship” and not a relationship following our “CREATOR’s design.” This is not to say that every married couple should get a legal divorce. What we are saying is that couples should make a covenant before and with our SOVEREIGN. It is never to late to make a marriage covenant.

Please notice that preachers are authorized by the state to perform marriages and not by the CREATOR. Since he/she is an agent of the state they must notify the state of their actions.

If Scripture states that a man “took” a woman it refers to what we think of today as being “married.” It is hard to come up with a term that we all understand because we are so conditioned to using the word “marry” or “marriage” which are government words. If we get “married” in the government way, then we are not following our CREATOR’s way--we have chosen another “head” of our union other than our CREATOR. For most of us we “got married” and participated in this deception without our knowledge.

What Does Concubine Mean

You might be wondering where concubines or secondary wives fit into Scripture. For this reason, it is important to have a good understanding of what it means. Below, we give definitions from two different sources:

Concubine. Among the Hebrews a concubine occupied a position in the family as a secondary wife, and was sometimes spoken of as a wife. It appears that concubines were slave girls, one of three kinds: 1) a Hebrew girl sold by her father (Exodus 21:7-9), 2) a foreign slave girl purchased, or 3) a foreign girl captured in warfare (Deuteronomy 21:10-14). Some were the handmaid of the free wife, as in the cases of Sarah, Leah, and Rachel (Genesis 16:3-4; 30:3-13; Judges 8:31; 9:18).

Concubinage was in existence before the Law Covenant and was recognized and regulated by the Law, which protected the rights of both wives and concubines. (Exodus 21:7-11; Deuteronomy 21:14-17. Concubines did not have all the rights of the household that the regular wife had, and a man might have a plurality of wives along with concubines (1 King 11:3; 2 Chronicles 2:21). In cases where the wife was barren, she sometimes gave her handmaid to the husband as a concubine [surrogate mother], and the child born of the concubine would then be considered the child of the free wife, her mistress (Genesis 16:2; 30:3). Sons of the concubine were legitimate, not bastards, and could inherit [their father’s land] (Genesis 49:16-21 and compare Genesis 30:3-12).” ²⁷

CONCUBINE - A secondary wife. The taking of concubines dates back at least to the patriarchal period. Both Abraham and Nahor had concubines (Genesis 22:24; 25:6; 1 Chronicles 1:32). Concubines were generally taken by tribal chiefs, kings, and other wealthy men. Gideon had a concubine (Judges 8:31). Saul had at least one concubine, named Rizpah (2 Samuel 3:7; 21:11). David had many (2 Samuel 5:13), but Solomon took the practice to its extreme, having 300 concubines, in addition to his 700 royal wives (1 Kings 11:3). Deuteronomy 17:17 forbid kings to take so many wives.

The concubines (and wives) of chiefs and kings were symbols of their virility and power. Having intercourse with the concubine of the ruler was an act of rebellion. When Absalom revolted against his father, David, he “went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel” (2 Samuel 16:22) on the palace roof. When David returned to the palace, the ten concubines involved were sent away to live the rest of their lives in isolation (2 Samuel 20:3). ²⁸

Has the CREATOR Ever Been “Married”?

In actuality, the CREATOR “took” (married) Israel to be His wife. Later Israel engaged in b-al worship and thus committed spiritual adultery against her SOVEREIGN. Yet understand, that all of the false gods are only figments of the human imagination ²⁹   as inspired by the evil one and her comrades. They have enough power to perform magic tricks to fool humans into believing in false gods and obeying their false teachings. These magic tricks include, but are not limited to healing the sick, miracles, spiritual feelings or experiences, speaking in tongues, multiplying bread and fish, and words of wisdom and knowledge as in the New Testament, etc.

Israel refused to obey our SOVEREIGN. In other word, Israel went after human “religions” with their respective “gods” rather than worshipping the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN CREATOR. They were committing adultery because they were following other “gods.” This is still happening today with the Lost Ten Tribes as well as with the House of Judah.

The reason that our SOVEREIGN had to divorce the Lost Ten Tribes is because of Israel’s continuous adulterous relationships with other g-ds—even though the pagan g-ds are actually imaginary. The people thought then, as they think now, that these false imaginary g-ds are real.

ETERNAL will take (laqach) the righteous remnant from the Lost Ten Tribes back to Himself as they have repented of worshipping false imaginary g-ds. Since there is no other Mighty One to actually “marry” her, ETERNAL can and will take her back.

ETERNAL gave many opportunities for Israel to repent--to turn to Him. Sometimes they would repent, but those times were very few. ETERNAL had no alternative except to divorce Israel. This subject is the main theme in the Hebrew Scriptures (Tanakh, Old Testament). Then as Scripture predicted, the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel were dispersed to foreign countries where they would worship the imaginary “gods” of those countries.

What is now happening worldwide is that ETERNAL is calling some to be a part of the righteous remnant to enter into the Davidic Kingdom. These are the ones who are seeking ETERNAL with all of their hearts, souls, minds, and strength and that are submitting to Him and returning His love that He has given us. He is calling those who seek Him in truth out of all “religions” into a relationship directly with Him to live by the Abrahamic Hebrew Faith.   At the end of Jacob’s Trouble, ETERNAL will come and retake (“remarry”) those who are seeking Him, loving Him, and obeying Him. Once the Mighty One comes back to save ³⁰   Israel, He will establish His righteous Government on earth. He will forever and ever be SOVEREIGN over His Kingdom and over His people in His Righteous Mountain (Isaiah 56:7).

Legal Definition Summary

There is a definition in Black’s Law Dictionary for “Husband and Wife.” Now, this definition comes out of a law dictionary and is therefore the basis of its use in modern society. Of course, you have to go back a few years to the fourth edition to find the true definition but here it is:

One of the great domestic relationships; being that of a man and woman lawfully joined in marriage, by which, at common law, the legal existence of a wife is incorporated with that of her husband.

I want to point out here that the government has made the union between a man and woman “a corporation.” The law dictionaries do not use words at random. Incorporated means “to form into a legal corporation.” ³¹   The law book actually tells us the truth, but we are so blind we read over what it is saying. You are probably thinking that I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but I am not. What I am saying is at the very heart of deception—taking words that we think say one thing yet mean another.

What the Arch-deceiver has done is make us believe that marriage should conform to a legal standard and not conform to our CREATOR’s Standard.   Isn’t that the way of everything though? That is what She (Satan/Heylel) does and She is certainly good at deception. So, you might say, “Well, what is the big deal about being a corporation?” Well, the deal is that the government owns all corporations.   So, if you are a corporation as a man and wife, you belong to the government and not to our CREATOR. According to Scripture, a man cannot serve another g-d and still serve the One True Living SOVEREIGN.

Therefore, we have to ask ourselves: What is ETERNAL’s design for a man and woman wanting to live together with His blessing? Our CREATOR wants to be the head of His Creation and that includes being the Head of our “one flesh” union.

Heylel, the deceiver, has blinded us by using words that say one thing and yet mean another. These lying words are then used to confuse us so that we will conform to her ways and ultimately worship She³²   instead of the CREATOR.   This is done throughout cultures worldwide. Remember, Satan (Heylel) deceives the whole world by our imaginations.

She gets us to disobey our CREATOR by means of religions, cultures, holidays, superstitions, governments, etc. For example, if we think that going to church on Sunday morning is fulfilling Scripture, we have to look very closely to see if this indeed is conforming to Scripture. In addition, we have to look very closely at everything that we do to see if we are conforming to our CREATOR’s Will.   This includes being united as one-flesh. You have to ask yourself this very important question: Since I am going to be judged on my righteousness according to the things that I do, am I keeping our SOVEREIGN’s Commandments? Or are you allowing yourself to be deceived in these subtle ways by the Arch-deceiver?

Although we have introduced a lot of definitions in our study on The Union of Man and Woman and have given you a lot of things to think about, there is an aspect of this that I want to emphasize. Religion and government are one in the same and stem from the same roots. ³³

The single word “marriage” shows that there is no separation of church and state. Both are ultimately from Satan and are used to blind the eyes of people everywhere so that they will worship her rather than our SOVEREIGN CREATOR. The word “marriage” is one of the words which brings together both aspects of government and religion--“church” is another. This is not surprising because Heylel (Lucifer) started her deception in the Garden of Eden by deceiving the first man and woman and the deception has been going on ever since.

We are instructed in Scripture to forsake all “gods.” To do that, we have to do things ETERNAL’s Way--everything else is following after other “gods” and is spiritual adultery.

ETERNAL’s Way

So what is ETERNAL’s way for us concerning the union of man and woman? Each of us will have to come to that conclusion for ourselves. For us, being “married” by a representative of a government is not the final answer. Why? Because then the government is the head of our “union” and not ETERNAL, thus we have to make ETERNAL the Head. To us, the answer is very clear, but it is not always easy going against religious friends, family, society, etc.

Those who are living together after having sexual relations are scripturally the only ones who are rightfully united (as one-flesh) from a Scriptural standpoint. All others are participating in a pagan deception that includes “the Virgin Mary, Rome, b-al,” pagan rituals, adultery, and ultimately serving other g-ds.

Editors Note: United Hebrew Congregations is not advocating that any one obtains a “legal” divorce or separation or that people just live together as spouses. We are simply stating that a couple should make their fidelity united as one-flesh humbly before and to our ETERNAL SOVEREIGN, the Mighty One of Israel, who is the CREATOR of the Cosmos and all that there is. If both mates do not want to do this, then the one who does should simply tell our SOVEREIGN in prayer alone. Since this is not a “thus saith ETERNAL 'you do this'” matter simply making your fidelity known to the SOVEREIGN brings you back into harmony because you have placed it in the Hands the Highest Authority.

Trickery Continues

So what does this mean? Ultimately, Heylel wants our worship. She uses false words to twist the true meanings of words to get us off track. The sick thing is, when we women look up to our man and call him “husband,” we are actually speaking the meaning of a false g-d. We do this unknowingly of course. We think by calling our man “husband” we are honoring him. Like I said, that is how slick Satan is! So, to say “my man” and likewise “my woman” would be correct.

When we are in a “marriage” contract with the state, then we are subject to the state. The state takes the responsibility over that union and directs every aspect of that union. This includes the children, splitting up property in case of divorce, orchestrating their children’s education, as well as everything else in which government has control.

ETERNAL did not command us to be in a contract with the government. What He did devise is a way for us to be in a loving relationship with our mate under His Authority.

You see, government as we know it originated from Heylel. This happened in the Garden of Eden when She connived Eve into partaking of the forbidden thing and upsetting the family unit of government. ³⁴   At the same time religion started in the Garden as well. Satan devised a plan, and I might add, a very cunning plan, to “steal” man’s affection and loyalty away from the CREATOR. Apparently, that was not very hard to do because She was/is very convincing. In reality, the outcome of that is that billions of people will have opportunity in The Wonderful World of Tomorrow to make a marriage with our SOVEREIGN. Then they have the joy of having eternal life with our loving SOVEREIGN and have a sovereignly union with Him.

The Original Government

Ultimately, government originated from our CREATOR. The government is upon His shoulders which is where it should be. Man’s way of doing things by exalting himself above our CREATOR is called “humanism” and is influenced by Heylel. Humanism started in the Garden when Adam and Eve thought Heylel had given them a better idea and did She's will instead of doing their CREATOR’s Will.

Is it hard to do the CREATOR’s Will? No, not at all. We just have to make up our minds that what He says is what we are going to do and follow through with it. Where it becomes hard to follow the Commandments is when we look to man, government, society, family, etc. to get their approval instead of looking to our SOVEREIGN for His backing and approval.

Being in a one-flesh relationship with our mate is the most natural thing on this earth. The union between a man and a woman was created by the CREATOR Himself. This union was blessed and the CREATOR walked and talked with the Man (Adam) and Woman (Eve) in the Garden of Eden. They had a loving, caring relationship. The Man and the Woman were literally made for each other and were therefore soul mates. They were given the pure love of a child and their heart was like His heart. Heylel was jealous and set out to break it up.

Our SOVEREIGN will again have a direct relationship with His creation. I do not believe it is very far away either. However this time, He will have an eternal relationship only with those who love Him and who obey His Commands. Let us work while we still have time to please our SOVEREIGN and to love Him with all of our hearts, souls, minds, and strength in every way that we can.
