What are these Wounds in Thy Hands?

Preface

The largest church on earth and her protesting daughters claim that their faith is based on two prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament or Tanakh). Together these prophecies state that a promised messiah will be born of a virgin and that he will be crucified. If that is a true claim then the world needs to know this great fact or if it is fiction, the world needs to know even more. This mystgery is revealed in the first two articles.

Introduction to the "Second Article"

by Charles J. Voss

You can fool some of the people all of the time. In addition, you can fool some of the people some of the time. However, you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

As the poet said, "Truth crushed to earth will rise again!" However, the person that discovers it and reveals the secret will probally be branded as some sort of kooky nut job. All truth will eventually become known as the ETERNAL SOVEREIGN reveals it in His own right time. our loving SOVEREIGN is now revealing "the Mysteries of the Ages" that some have tried to keep secret.

To quote from the "Forward" in the King James Bible in the notes from the Translators to the Readers: "But how shall men mediate in that, in that which they cannot understand: How shall they understand that which is kept close in an unknown tongue?"   So, now you know and you can mediate on that to determine how your life will be affected.

Zechariah 13:6

ASK ALMOST ANY "CHRISTIAN" TO READ ZECHARIAH 13:6 aloud and ask, "Who is this Scripture referring to?" They will look at you in shock, amazement, and say, “Oh this is obviously referring to ‘Jesus Christ,’ whose hands were pierced during his crucifixion."

This verse from Zechariah is one of the most often misquoted texts used by "Christian Missionaries" to uphold their claim that J-sus is the Messiah. Unfortunately for them, that claim is also one of the easiest to prove false.

“Proof-texting” is the technique of extracting a verse or part of a verse, usually out of context, and then use it to make a point that is different from the context of the verse. In this case, it is used as one of the main pillars to attempt to support their doctrine that their savior was a crucified human sacrifice.

The doctrine in question is the Protestant-Catholic-Messianic claim that J-sus or Y-shuah was the Messiah of Israel. However, an examination of the entire thirteenth chapter of Zechariah is required to understand the story flow of what is being stated. When the previous five verses are read, the meaning of verse six becomes crystal clear.

We will begin by quoting the first six verses of Zechariah 13 to get an overview and then we will examine each verse more closely.

Zechariah 13:1 (KJV). 1. “In that day” there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

2. And it shall come to pass “in that day,” saith ETERNAL of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the [false] prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

3. And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begot him shall say unto him, Thou shall not live; for thou speakest lies in the Name of ETERNAL: and his father and his mother that begot him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

4. And it shall come to pass “in that day,” that the [false] prophets shall be ashamed every one of his visions, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

5. But he shall say, “I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.”

6. And one shall say unto him, “What are these wounds in thy hands?” Then he shall answer, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”

Verse 1 gives the general time setting of when this prophecy will be fulfilled. The key is the phrase "in that day." In other examples where this phrase is used (Hosea 2:16-18), most serious students of the Bible understand "in that day" refers generally to “the time of the Messianic age” (1000 Years). One significant event that will occur during this coming age of peace and perfection is that the knowledge and understanding of who the "One True CREATOR of Israel" is will saturate the entire earth (Habakkuk 2:14). The removal of false understanding and the wrongful worship of false g-ds will accompany this. It will also mean that the priests and prophets of false religions will essentially be out of a job.

Verse 2 expounds this idea further by stating that the names of false g-ds (idols) will be "cut off...out of the land." To be “cut off out of the land” means to be destroyed or consumed. The names of these false g-d's will not even be allowed to be spoken (Hosea 2:17). After a time, their memory will even be forgotten. The prophets of these false religions will also be removed along with the unclean spirits which cause abnormal human behavior.

Verse 3 states the penalty for someone who tries to teach others about false g-ds. If anyone attempts to sway others away from the Righteous One of Israel, that person should be put to death by his own parents.

Verse 4 tells how very embarrassed and ashamed every prophet or teacher of the world's false religious systems will feel. The words "hairy mantle" possibly have reference to the prophet Elijah as the false prophet tries to emulate a true prophet of ETERNAL.

Verse 5 shows that the false teachers in will deny they taught others to embrace a false and useless religion.  Remember that all five verses here are referring to false prophets, i.e. teachers and proponents of a false religion. A religion that teaches men to worship any g-d other than the Righteous One of Israel is a false religion. This brings us to the verse in question:

Zechariah 13:6. And one shall say unto him, “What are these wounds in thy hands?” Then he shall answer, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”

Who is the "him" that is being referred in verse 6? It is the same "him" who in verse five claimed not to be a false prophet, but a farmer. It is the same "him" in verse 4 who is ashamed to have taught a false religion and a false g-d to the people. It is the same "him" that is in verse 3 who is in danger of being put to death by his parents for trying to sway others away from Israel's Righteous One. It is the same "him" in verse two who was cut off from the land because of his abominable teachings. In other words, the "him" in verse 6 is a false prophet, a teacher of myths and fables who has deceived the people of the earth and who is to be given the label of "false teacher" in due time. Now I ask you, is this the “J-sus or Y-shuah" portrayed in the New Testament? Well, on a second reading, it just might be!

Furthermore, "wounds in thy hands" is a mistranslation. The Hebrew word for "wounds" is "makkah: "(Strong's #H4347) and is more accurately translated "to be smitten or stricken," i.e. "beaten."

The word for hands is "yad:" (#H3027) and can also mean "between the hands, i.e. "the breast or back." Therefore, another way to state this verse is: "Why have you been beaten on your back?"

The answer to this question is given in the last part of verse 6: "...I was wounded in the house of my friends" for being a false teacher that will simply not be tolerated during the messianic age.

When these verses are read in context, it becomes very clear that verse 6 is not a reference to "J-sus or Y-shuah" at all. Actually, this verse is not even a messianic verse. It is a description of the fate of false teachers who have deceived people into believing in a false g-d.

When the so-called prophecies of the Old Testament, which seem to point to "J-sus or Y-shuah" as the Messiah of Israel are examined in context and in the original Hebrew, they can usually be put to rest rather quickly.

Speaking on the context of a verse, the story flow around Isaiah 7:14 is what the child is to be named, not the sexual activity of the child’s mother.  The Hebrew word “`almah” (al-maw’ #H5959 in Gesenius’) states “a young woman, a maiden, a youthful spouse recently married. The idea of unspotted virginity is not what this word conveys.” The name of the child was “our SOVEREIGN is with us” which would be more of a comfort to Achaz than any news of his supposed virgin niece being pregnant. Had he been told that father of his niece's child was not her husband he would searched far and wide for the scoundrel that did it.

The names that are mentioned in these three chapters are all very meaningful.

1) The son of Amos, named Isaiah which means, “THE SOVEREIGN WILL SAVE HIS PEOPLE.”
2) The son of a pregnant woman that King Achaz knew was named Immanuel means, “OUR SOVEREIGN IS WITH US.” These first two were give before Achaz decided not to trust ETERNAL, but to trust the king of Assyria.
3) A son of Isaiah was named Maher-shalal-hash-baz means "QUICK TO THE PLUNDER, SWIFT TO THE SPOIL."
4) Another son of Isaiah was named Shear-jashub which means “A REMNANT WILL RETURN.” This son was named after Achaz made his decision to pay the king of Assyria to prophesy of Judah captivity two hundred years later.
5) A son of Jessie was named David and he will stand from the grave and he shall be called in purpose “WONDERFUL,” in battle “ELOHIM-LIKE,” like the Father for all time “PRINCE OF PEACE.”

We have seen that despite manipulation by the Midnight Monks to make it appear other wise, no person in Scripture was born of a virgin and in addition, all false prophets will be cut off from the land.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could each start over with a clean new scroll. We each know the things that we would avoid doing and we know the things that we would do.

CHILDREN For a fantastic thought, ponder that if Adam and Eve would have obeyed, then how wonderful the entire earth could have been. By starting with a new clean slate or scroll Adam & Eve could have obeyed and not sinned and then we would all be living in the Garden of Eden. There would not be any war or crime, instead there would peace and harmony.

ETERNAL states, "When a man builds a house, he will keep on living in it-it will not be destroyed by invading armies. My people will plant vineyards and eat the fruit themselves-there would be no enemies to confiscate it. For My people will live as long as trees and will long enjoy their hard-won gains. Their harvests will not be eaten by their enemies; their children will not be born to be cannon fodder.

"I will answer My people before they even call to Me. While they are still talking to Me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!

"The wolf and lamb shall feed together and be led by a little child. The lion shall eat straw as the ox does and poisonous snakes shall strike no more! In those days nothing and no one shall be hurt or destroyed in all My Righteous Mountain," says ETERNAL

FORGIVENESS
