This is a touching story of human frailty especially in dealing with children.

The following is an actual letter that a father had written his grown children telling them the story of the Gold Box.

Dear kids,
I know you have a lot of bad memories as ex-WCG preacher's kid.  But I would like you to just consider the other side, if you would.

THE  GOLD  BOX

The story goes that some time ago,  a man punished his 4 -year old daughter for wasting a roll of gold foil-like wrapping paper.  Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a small box.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the small box as a gift to her father the next morning and said,   "This is for you, Daddy."   He was now clearly embarrassed by his earlier overreaction,  but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.   He yelled at her,  "Don't  you know that when you give someone a present,  there's supposed to be something inside it?"

The girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,  "Oh it's not empty Daddy,  I blew kisses into the box.   All for you,  Daddy."   The father was crushed.   He put his arms around his little girl,  and he begged for her forgiveness.

An accident took the life of the little girl only a short time later and it is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for many years and  whenever he was discouraged,  he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense,  each of us as humans,  have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children,  friends,  family,  and especially our CREATOR.   There is no more precious possession anyone could hold than that wonderful gold box of ours.

Sometimes, the world we live in will tell you that there is no gold box ..........the world lies.
Always, your enemies will tell you that the box is not for you ............your enemies lie.

Sometimes you are so tired from the struggle of life,  from the many shattered dreams,  from the almost endless broken promises that you don't have even the strength to open that golden box of yours.

That is when your true friends will lift you to your feet,   and help you open your gold box.......... so that you will see ......and feel ....... that you are indeed loved by many and that you are a valuable person.

You see............. the real value in the box is not what you see inside ...............but what your heart feels when you open the box........ is the important thing.

Oh my children, I know it is hard to strap on the memories of having been a WCG pk.  But sometime, just try, strapping on the memories of being an ex-WCG preacher.  As an ex-WCG preacher I ask for anybody's forgiveness if I ever told you, "Yes, I know that is not what the Bible says, but, that is what church government says."

As your father I ask you for your (and your mother's) forgiveness for every time I lost my patience with you over some trifling matter and for every time I was to busy to show you the love you needed.  I know that my example was not always the best, but, the simple truth is that, even though humans cannot correctly operate a family, an organization, a government, or a country - our loving CREATOR can - and will at the advent of the Messiah.  But, in the meantime you live your life, strickly by the Scriptures, so that your own Gold Box of love will be a Box of Gold.

PS Would one of you kids, please print this out and give it to your mother when you see her, and if you notice any splotches on the paper, they were caused by tears.
