"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - II Chronicles 7:14 |
This present world if full of confusion. There is confusion in all facets of life whether it is political, economic, educational, religious, racial, or just in our own personal lives.
In countries where citizens have the right to vote for their government leaders there is confusion because all politicians claim one thing and then when elected they do something entirely different. No matter who is elected there remains corruption all levels of government, so no wonder there is very little patriotic love of country anymore. President Lincoln spoke at Gettysburg about a government that is "for the people." Where has that government gone, has it perished from the earth? Those that died for freedom, have they died in vain? Is freedom itself, about to perish from the face of the earth?
In the economic sphere the bottom line is, "It is the economy, stupid." That translates into, "I will take a profit if it kills the company and to hell with you. Everybody wants more for less input. Management wants larger salaries with golden parachutes and labor wants more dollars for less production. Where has the adage gone that says to "give an honest days work for an honest days pay"?
True, our educational system did produce people that walked on the moon and a system that put them there. Not to pick on Purdue, but Jay Leno recently did a segment asking questions of the University seniors. The ones he interviewed did not know if Canada was north or south of Washington or whether Mexico was north, or south of California. Some even thought Canada and Mexico were cities somewhere "out west." What has happened to our educational system, so that now we produce high school graduates that, "cannot even read the words on their diplomas"?
On racial and sexual issues, the confusion is there also. There is no rainbow coalition, that is myth because the world is more polarized and divided than it has ever been. People will not agree on any issue unless they can personally "get something" out of the deal. What ever happened to brotherly love?
The religious scene is probably the most confused. A recent poll showed that even though a large majority of people stated that they believed in a "Supreme Being" and the "Advent of the Messiah" only a tiny few owned up to praying, reading any sort of religious book, or attending any sort of religious service. Most of those who stated that they participated in a religious activity in some way were "over the hill" in age. With those thoughts in mind, why would we ask a question about building the Third Temple in Jerusalem? The building of a new Temple on the Temple Mount is an issue of vital importance to "Christians," Jews, and Moslems alike. If there is to be a third Temple, who will build it and when will it be built? Most people are unaware that the Third Temple WILL NOT be built UNTIL AFTER the Advent of the Messiah as stated in the Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures) in the book of Zechariah.
Zac. 14:6 12-13 (New King James Version) "Then speak to him, saying, 'Thus says ETERNAL* of hosts, saying: "Behold, the Man whose name is the BRANCH! From His place, He shall branch out, and He shall build the Temple of ETERNAL. Yes, He shall build the Temple of ETERNAL. He shall bear the glory, And shall sit and rule on His throne; so He shall be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace shall be between them both."'
* Editors Note; we substituted ETERNAL for "the Lord" as does Dr. James Moffatt and emphasis is ours throughout.
Another interesting fact that King David of ancient Israel personally purchased and owned the land where his son Solomon built the original Temple. This is the same land where the Jewish "Wailing Wall" and the Moslem's "Dome of the Rock" and "El-Aksa Mosque" stand and it has never been sold by any descendants of King David.
2 Chron 3:1 "Now Solomon began to build the house of ETERNAL at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where ETERNAL had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite."
1 Chron 21: 25 "So David gave Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place."
This interestingly enough, is the same place where Abraham was to offer Isaac.
Gen. 22:2 "Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
