I truly believe we are very close to the time of Jacob's trouble. However, it is no more predictable on a pagan crescent moon calendar that it is in the book of revelation.
By their own accounting the Jews are (6000 - 5761 =) 239 years off.

I think that Dr. James Tabor has it correct and the year starting at sunset on April 7th is the year 6001 and that we are just finishing the year 6000.

Thursday, March 22, 2001 (the 27th of Adar, 5761), was earlier designated the time to celebrate Rosh Chodesh Nisan, (the first day of Nisan), since the first day of Nisan actually falls on Sunday. Ordinarily Rosh Chodesh Nisan is designated a Yom Kippur Katan (a small Yom Kippur).
So over the past 24 hours the Jewish community here in Israel and throughout the world has united in prayer. What is unusual about this year's Yom Kippur Katan is that in light of the 6-month-old Palestinian uprising which has claimed the lives of 57 Israelis, including more than 20 through the direct involvment and participation of Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority, the rabbis have added the designation as "a time of Jacob's trouble."
Further it is signed by ALL 27 of the leading Orthodox and Chassidic sages, both the "maranan verabonon" (masters and teachers) and the "gedolei ha-Torah vehaChassidus (Torah sages among the Chassidut)." The declaration begins and is formally designated:

None of the nations of Israel even have a prayer of a chance. They even refuse to accept who they are and thus when the trouble gets worse in Jerusalem and begins to spread to all of Israel, they will only hunker down deeper into the abyss of false religion.

Sorry, but the present nation of Israel is not "the holy nation." The religion of Judaism says that the oral torah, traditions, Talmud, and Mishnah all take precedence over the written Torah. They will tell that is not a true statement but, check up on what they believe. A person worships who ever they obey and sorry, but they do not obey YHWH, they obey the words of the sages and the rabbis. The Scripture states that Judah is worse than their treacherous sister Israel (Jer. 3:7-10).

"Our only power is in exercising of the age-old tool of our fathers, which is to cry out and to cause an uproar, as the Rambam says at the beginning of Hilchos Taanis: "It is a positive command of the Torah to cry out and to soud the shofar over every calamity which strikes the community, as it is written,
"At hatsar hastsoreir eschem veharei'osem bechatzotzeros (against the adversary that oppresses you, you should blow an alarm with the trumpets -- (Numbers 10:9) - the word tsar alluding to everything which oppresses (metsar) you.
The problem is that they do not recognize what or who is oppressing them. Numbers 9:23 (just before Num. 10:9) states the conditions for sounding the alarm and receiving help. It states "At the Commandment of YHWH they rested in the tents, and at the Commandment of YHWH they journeyed: they kept the charge of YHWH, at the Commandment of YHWH by the hand of Moses."
No one in any of the nations of Israel, is marching only to the Commands of YHWH and thus are not keeping His charge. In addition verse 8 states that "the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets. " Since when did rabbis become the sons of Aaron or of the sons of Zadok the priest. It is reported that the Jews know who is in the lineage of the priests, but yet they still rely on the words of men, sages and rabbis.

"Therefore we entreat Jews everywhere -- men, womem and children -- to assemble at worldwide prayer rallies and to plead with the A-mighty, Who is most compassionate and kind, for deliverance. On Thursday, 27 Adar, ever rosh chodesh Nisan,* in the shmittah year, we will gather with one heart, to issue pleas and fervent cries to the Master of all, and to recite the prayers of Yom Kippur Katan, selichos and Tehillim.

To assemble worldwide is a fine idea but they should be praying prayers of repentance and returning to the true worship of the ONE TRUE CREATOR whose name is YHWH. The very fact that assemble on a day in a month named after a pagan god and that they will recite or chant written prayers dooms it to failure before it even begins. YHWH wants a contrite and broken spirit and a prayer from the heart as King David prayed in Ps 51.

He will issue a spirit of purity from Above, in order to return us to Ovinu shebaShomayim. Fathers will return to their sons and sons to their fathers. Hashem will heed us, and we will not be lost. Isaiah was told do not even pray for them any more because they refuse to repent. The prayer should not be to return to physical fathers but THE fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the faith they observed - the Abrahamic Hebrew faith which had no rabbis or middle men. In addition, since they abide by the Talmud and not the Torah (OT) they have no clue as to what they will go through before the Moshiach, King David and the Prophet Elijah bring them from captivity.
While precious minutes of 27 Adar* remain, I encourage every JOE on this list who wishes to unite his heart in prayer with Judah to MINIMALLY pray the MINCHAH prayers (on my website www.torahvoice.org/minchah.htm) or the prayers for the State of Israel www.torahvoice.org/prayers.htm and if you have a shofar to sound it before sunset tonight. (The alarm of Yom Kippur is "one continuous blast" but I heard a variety of blasts today.)

The special prayers for 27 Adar actually began last night in a celebration of Thanksgiving to Hashem for what was being termed througout Jerusalem today as a "very great NES (miracle)."
A car packed full of explosives was parked in the heart of Jerusalem's Mea Shearim neighborhood on Rehov Mea Shearim in Kikar Shabbat (Shabbat Square). An off-duty parking warden noticed the car parked illegally in a taxi-only zone, looked inside and thought he saw suspicious wires coming out of a cellphone. He recruited local passersby to clear pedestrians and bloc traffic until police arrived and confirmed it was a car-bomb.
Helicopters flew overhead as a mass evacuation took place of the neighborhood surrounding the car and Israeli bomb squads (Sappers) to partially disarm the device and to conduct two controlled detonations. Buses and cars were backed up for miles in all directions but the inconvenience of walking two miles and more from Mea Shearim to the nearest bus stop that was still accessible was mitigated by the spontaneous praises and thanksgivings ... and added to the crowds on hand in the shuls for Yom Kippur Katan.
The air in and around Jerusalem today was noticeably lighter and spirits were noticeably uplifted as this REVIVAL INITIATED BY THE MODERN TORAH SAGES got underway.

A "very great NES (miracle)" will occur when the Prophet and the Messiah appear and it will not be at the beck and call of the "modern Torah sages." Notice what YHWH
states to the Priests in Malachi:
Mal 2:1-9 And now, O priests, this charge is for you: Unless you obey and unless you lay it to heart, and do honor to My name-said the YHWH of Hosts-I will send a curse and turn your blessings into curses. (Indeed, I have turned them into curses, because you do not lay it to heart.) I will put your seed under a ban, and I will strew dung upon your faces, the dung of your festal sacrifices, and you shall be carried out to its [heap]. Know, then, that I have sent this charge to you that My Covenant with Levi may endure-said the YHWH of Hosts. I had with him a Covenant of life and well-being, which I gave to him, and of reverence, which he showed Me. For he stood in awe of My name. Proper rulings were in his mouth, And nothing perverse was on his lips; He served Me with complete loyalty And held the many back from iniquity. For the lips of a priest guard knowledge, And men seek rulings from his mouth; For he is a messenger of the YHWH of Hosts. But you have turned away from that course: You have made the many stumble through your rulings; you have corrupted the covenant of the Levites-said the Lord of Hosts. And I, in turn, have made you despicable and vile in the eyes of all the people, because you disregard My ways and show partiality in your rulings.

Because of leading the people astray notice what YHWH states:
Amos 4:12 (Tanakh) Assuredly, Because I am doing that to you, Even so will I act toward you, O Israel--Prepare to meet your SOVEREIGN, O Israel!
Then after the time of troublehas passed read of the great blessing that will be poured out:
Ezek 36:22-27 (Tanakh) "Say to the House of Israel: Thus said YHWH CREATOR: 'Not for your sake will I act, O House of Israel, but for My holy name, which you have caused to be profaned among the nations to which you have come. I will sanctify My great name which has been profaned among the nations among whom you have caused it to be profaned. And the nations shall know that I am YHWH, declares YHWH our SOVEREIGN when I manifest My holiness before their eyes through you. I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the countries, and I will bring you back to your own land. I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: I will cleanse you from all your uncleanness and from all your fetishes. And I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit into you: I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh; and I will put My spirit into you. Thus I will cause you to follow My laws and faithfully to observe My rules. Then you shall dwell in the land which I gave to your fathers, and you shall be My people and I will be your SOVEREIGN.
Will you (the reader) be angry with the messenger or will you repent and turn to the ONE TRUE CREATOR, YHWH our only Savior, with all your heart and all your mind and seek Him with all your might. He already knows the answer that is in your heart.
True happiness and contentment come a satisfied mind that is at ease with the CREATOR of the universe. A truly at ease mind, only comes to us as a gift from YHWH. Our only option seems clear, we must Quest for the Ancient of Days and I hope that you, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public will set the example for your family and friends in that Quest.
